Last year, I clipped in for my very first Pan‑Mass Challenge feeling terrified but determined. I truly thought it would be a “one and done.” But somewhere between the sunrise start, the water stops (where I clearly had way too much fun, as my time reflected), and the strangers cheering us on, I was hooked.
So I’m back.
I ride in memory of my dad — Tom, Tommy, MFIC, Supreme (whatever you called him). He fought a courageous battle with cancer, and we just marked six years since we lost him.
He loved PMC weekend. He never rode, but he loved the spirit, the community, and the idea that thousands of people were biking with a purpose he cared deeply about. His pride only grew knowing his oncologist was an annual rider.
Last year showed me just how special the PMC truly is. Seeing friends and family at different stops, chatting with fellow riders, and seeing so many people across Massachusetts who came out simply to support — it moved me to tears more than once. There’s something extraordinary about realizing that thousands of us — strangers, friends, families — are all out there for the same mission: to help end cancer.
This year, I’m proud to ride again with the Boston Bruins Foundation and to carry forward the spirit my dad loved so much.
If you’re able, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Every dollar fuels lifesaving cancer research and treatment at Dana‑Farber, and every mile I ride is for the people we’ve loved, the people we’ve lost, and the people still fighting.
Thank you for being part of this with me. 💛🖤🚴♀️
All my love,
Monica
