Anyone who knew Jamilla knew she was the LIFE of the party!!!!!!!!!! Living up to her name “Beauty”, she captured not only the eyes but the hearts of everyone she encountered. The “cool” mom, auntie, sister and friend, everybody felt comfortable talking to and confiding in “Ms. Jamilla”, as she was affectionately referred to. She was a believer, and her faith carried her til the very end. Determined to live her life to the fullest despite the news of this diagnosis, she continued to serve, playing percussion which she LOVED to do, making her arts & crafts and maintaining her weekly Bible study which she attended for over 20 years amongst a group of close friends. Her grandson, whom she absolutely loved and adored kept her busy, while she still worked while completing her chemo treatments, and recovering from a double mastectomy. With the love and support of her parents, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and a host of friends, she maintained her zeal for life and did everything she could to keep it moving! She finally got the work from home job she always wanted and even moved to Los Angeles!!!
Despite fighting as hard as she could, Jamilla lost her battle to breast cancer on October 21st, 2020. To say she is sorely missed is an understatement. Her legacy lives on through her daughters Ashley & Britne, and her most favorite grand son Aidan. Her presence although felt, is greatly missed, and life indeed is not the same without her.
Your family misses you dearly, and there isn’t a day that passes that you aren’t on our hearts and minds.
On behalf of the family, thank you My Sisters Keeper for organizing this event and including Jamilla. Your love and support is appreciated.
