Hello,
Thanks for taking a few minutes to visit my CrossForLifeFlight page. I need your help to raise critical funds for access to lifesaving care all across Maine.
On July 10, 2025 I had knee surgery to repair a root horn tear of my meniscus. The idea was to save and secure my meniscus so that it can continue to provide critical shock absorbing functionality for my knee, avoiding or at least prolonging a total knee replacement. The surgery, or more accurately the recovery, has been an extremely physically and emotionally challenging 8 weeks. I am still in a large brace, using a crutch, and unable to drive.
BUT, last week, I finally was able to get on a bike, and after a tense 8 minutes of trying to get the courage to make a full pedal rotation, I did it! And I went on to ride for 10 minutes -- a huge step forward for my sore and cranky knee (and soul!)
But through it all, one thought gave me huge perspective -- THIS IS CURABLE. I will get better. For most LifeFlight patients, their condition requires immediate and complex care, that too often, only LifeFlight can provide.
As the entire healthcare system in Maine becomes more fragile and fragmented, we find ourselves at a vitally important moment in Maine. We need your help now to keep Mainers connected to the care they need, giving them all their BEST chance on their WORST day.
My plan is to get on my Peloton Bike and keep riding. I will ride 25 times between now and the end of the year and will try to hit 150 miles in honor of the 15,000+ miles per month that LifeFlight flies to get our patients to the care they need!
Please consider supporting my ride this year with a gift of $5, $50, or even $500 so that when you or someone you love hears those fateful words – call for LifeFlight – you’ll be a part of this larger community that is working together to keep Mainer connected to the care they need.
