I was diagnosed in January 2022 with Stage 3C Peritoneal/Ovarian Cancer. It was found accidently - I had a kidney stone and when they did the CAT Scan for the stone they found the tumor. I had major surgery to remove the tumor and other cancerous items. I had 6 rounds of intense Chemo to kill any remaining cancer cells. It by far was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through in my life. I made it through by God's grace and having a tremendous support system of loving family and wonderful friends. I remained cancer free for 22 months. In April of 2024 - my cancer returned. It was devastating news. I had another surgery in May 2024. I'm now going through 6 more treatments of chemo. This journey is difficult. But through the grace of God and my family and friends I know I will persevere and be cancer free again. This disease is nasty - unforgiving-and doesn't discriminate. The statistics of survival haven't changed in over 40 years. Most women once diagnosed won't live 5 years. Detecting this disease is difficult at best. There isn't a test that you can get that will tell you - you have this disease. The symptoms are vague, and most women don't know what to look for. This is why this walk is so very important. The funds raised from the walk go directly to Ovarian cancer research and awareness.
I ask you all to please help us find a cure before it's too late and more lives are lost.
My goal this year is to raise over $2,500 and have over 100 people walk with me. Please help me achieve these goals.
