Our fellow classmate, Kenley Baber lost her dad Kolby Baber almost 3 years ago. He was a Nebraska Corrections Officer at the Department of Corrections. Her mom, Kelani has been a champion and advocate for Kolby's death. Kolby is being honored in part because of Kelani's devoted love to keep his name celebrated.
The Baber family has been participating in many programs to help support their loss. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org) is a national program that pays off the mortgages of spouses' with fallen first responders among other contributions. Kelani was a recipient following Kolby's death and she now works so hard to network and promote other fallen families. I am calling on the 3rd, soon to be 4th grade families and Pyrtle staff and PTO to show up to run and walk with Kenley and Kelani. This is an important event to walk together and show our devoted support for our friends. I would love to see us all come together as a Pyrtle family for this bubbly, happy smiling little girl.
