Hi All,
Many of you will recognize this photo of the amazing duo of Jason White (right) and my brother, John Treadway! What a couple of youngsters in this pic!
LifeAct was created out of the despair of losing John to suicide at such a young age in 1990. He had been hiding his depression since adolescence. But LifeAct itself is HOPE based on science: suicide can be prevented especially when a young person is connected to the right treatment. Sure, there are no absolutes. But early intervention truly does make a difference.
Jason has kindly teamed up with me to raise money for LifeAct's 2026 Move for Mental Health. The proceeds enable LifeAct to go into schools to educate teens on depression and suicide risk, and to empower them to act -- for themselves or a friend. We are a tiny nonprofit with a big impact thanks to folks who support us. I have heard from parents myself who say LifeAct saved their child's life.
There is an awful lot of turbulence and uncertainty today for young people between screens, social media, and all else going on in the world. It's no surprise the rates for depression and anxiety continue to be so high. But the good news is every time we go into a school -- over 10% of the kids we serve get reported to the school for follow up. Some of these kiddos step forward for help for themselves as a result of what they learn. Others are reported by a friend, or the instructor. Our amazing instructors flag kids based on certain behaviors, questions, or comments (a powerful reason for our program that uses live instructors in the classroom!).
So I will hope you will join us in supporting LifeAct's mission. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL TO SAVE LIVES - THEY ALL ADD UP TO SOMETHING BIG!
Many Thanks!
Love,
Jenny + Jason
