Bicycling IS for EVERYONE! Give generously! See link@bottom of page!

The donate button is at the bottom of this story! I had not gotten on a bike for decades.  Then, at 54, in 2019, I suddenly got the idea that I should become a triathlete. To do this, I needed to buy a bike and ride on trails and roads to train for epic adventures.  I am so glad that I re-found cycling in my 50s. I should have had the nerve to start far earlier.  Cycling has opened up a whole new world for me.  I can't believe I missed the opportunity to ride the incredible trails around lake country while my kids were growing up. I feel like I missed a great opportunity for healthy living that is much easier on my body than running and far more exciting than hiking. I want more friends to know about cycling. The Bike Fed is Wisconsin's statewide non-profit bicycle advocacy group which helps people have safe and healthy biking experiences.

Since its inception, the Bike Fed has taught thousands of children and adults how to ride safely and legally. The Bike Fed is responsible for legislation like the three-foot passing law, the anti-dooring law, e-bike legislation, and rules that have helped get paved shoulders added to thousands of miles of roads across Wisconsin. The Bike Fed also promotes the bike industry and Wisconsin's hundreds of races and rides on our website and through the circulation of our annual Ride Guide magazine.  Since 2020, I have taken part in several of these races and rides. I have helped the MAACC fund through the Trek 100 on three occasions, won 3rd place in my age group at Race the Lake and I am still benefitting as I complete my third Dairyland Dare and now RAW/Ride Across WI! These rides would not happen without the foundation that the Bike Fed has laid down in WI.

The Bike Fed's Vision is my Vision for biking in WI!  They are here to help make Wisconsin one of the best places in the world to ride a bike. They want residents and visitors alike – from all backgrounds – to make cycling a central and convenient part of the Wisconsin experience.  The Bike Fed is here to cultivate, motivate, and unite a strong community of citizens as well as business and political leaders to move bicycling forward in Wisconsin – through education, legislation, and involvement.

Please support this ride that I am going to conquer.  Please donate to the Bike Fed as they support me in my Epic Goal to ride 236 miles, from LaCrosse to the Dells and then from the Dells to Trek to Milwaukee over a 2-day weekend this August. Please know that your donation will help improve the trails as we continue to move from rails to bike trails and also to fight for legislation that makes biking safer for all WI citizens!
