The original Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe began operations in New Brighton, PA late in 1959. It was the dream of Victor and Francis Trevelline to open a Shoppe much the same as their older brother had done in Warren, Ohio after WWII. Starting their own restaurant business, the brothers began serving all-American hot dogs, fresh cut French fries, fresh made chili and sauce (from a proprietary recipe) and thick milkshakes. The restaurant quickly became a favorite of the locals and people travelling home after relocating. The brothers continued to operate one location until 1968 when they opened a second location in Beaver Falls, PA. In 1975, the brothers hired Frank G Papa (their accountant) to run the day-to-day operations with the intention of opening additional locations. Soon, there were several locations around Beaver and Allegheny Counties. In order to maintain the commitment to quality, Frank partnered with Regis Luger in 1992 to build and operate a commissary to centralize the process of making the hot dogs and other menu items fresh daily. The commissary continues to operate today and provides product to the locations.
