The purpose of Miller Home of Lynchburg, Virginia is to provide short term or long term care and guidance to girls, ages two through twenty one, who cannot live with their families.  Miller Home seeks to provide these services within a supportive, non-institutional environment, which encourages each girl to grow and develop her highest potential.  It is the goal of Miller Home to assist its residents in becoming responsible productive citizens.

In 1867 the Miller Home, then known as the Lynchburg Female Orphan Asylum, was chartered and its first directors appointed due to the generosity of Samuel Miller.  Since the doors opened, Miller Home has cared for more than 900 girls.  Although our name and facility have changed in order to adapt to the demands of an ever-changing society, we continue to care for girls and love having a house full.

The trademark of our operation is the simple fact that we conduct our program solely on voluntary contributions.  Governmental funding is never accepted, and we rely completely upon the generosity of individuals, churches, businesses, and other who financially support our work.
