The mission of the Hammond Knights is to enhance the lives and literacy of the youth in Tangipahoa Parish, to serve those in need regardless of religion, race, or creed; and to provide guardianship and guidance in perpetuity. 

Years ago, a group of children bonded together in friendship and 
camaraderie. These children looked out for one another, and remained close as the years went by. As teenagers they were assigned the nickname Hammondites. This group was called Hammondites because they all lived in and around the greater Hammond area. As these teens grew into young men theHammondites became the Hammond Knights. A knight 
traditionally symbolizes truth, honor, and virtue. The Hammond Knights have dopted this as their creed. Each member of the Hammond Knights is committed to r mating tlie highe t standard of morals, ethics, and 
values in thems Ives ana mothers. They are the guardians of the past, the protectors of the present, and the champions of the future.
