Vibes and casual physical fitness - that's what Team You, Me and D are about! We are back to casually stroll and push D in his jogging stroller at this year's Autism Society of Central Virginia 5K! What a year it's been. Mom is on year four of serving on the ASCV Board of Directors! D continues to avail the great programming offered by the ASCV and its partners, including respite nights, gym classes at River City Inclusive Gym, pontoon boat rides down the James River with Beyond Boundaries, the Autism Adult Weekend Camp with his dad and brother, holiday parties and even bowling a strike or two on Adult bowling days!
We're so grateful that the Autism Society of Central Virginia faithfully serves the autism community for the lifespan of its members, because autism doesn't end at 18. We're especially grateful that the roster of adult programming continues to expand, offering D a rich variety of things to participate in, friends to hang out with, and community he can call his own. He's a very popular dude whereever he goes!
And this year the ASCV is working to make a brick-and-mortar center for the autism community - a place where we can come to hang, participate in programs and classes and be in a safe space with friends who get it. Having not had a dedicated space like that for all the years we've lived in Richmond, the Ali Family is particularily excited to see this come to fruition.
