For the past eight years, we have proudly participated in the Christmas Without Cancer 5K as Amber's Army, honoring the memory of our sister, daughter, wife, mom, and friend, Amber Woodworth.
Amber passed away in 2018 after a courageous battle with thymic carcinoma. She left behind her loving husband, Ronnie, and four beautiful boys, all under the age of five at the time. The support, compassion, and resources provided through Christmas Without Cancer helped her family during an incredibly difficult chapter, and we have never forgotten that kindness.
Each year, we walk to celebrate Amber's life, keep her memory alive, and support other families facing challenges similar to those she endured.
This year, our walk takes on an additional meaning.
Amber's dad, Al, is currently undergoing treatment for B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). As he navigates his own cancer journey, our family has once again experienced the comfort of knowing Christmas Without Cancer is there for patients and families when they need support most. Recently, Dad attended CWC's very first Cancer Survivorship Event, and it reinforced what we've always known: this organization continues to bring hope, encouragement, and community to those facing cancer.
So this year, we walk not only in memory of Amber, but also in honor of Al.
We walk for the sister we miss every day. We walk for the dad who is courageously fighting today. And we walk for every family whose life has been touched by cancer.
Thank you for supporting Amber's Army and helping Christmas Without Cancer continue its mission of providing hope, compassion, and practical assistance to individuals and families facing cancer.
