Are you and your family prepared for “The Big One?” Do you know what you can do to help your family or friends in the event of a disaster? If the answer is no, then you may be interested in attending a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training class.

Temple City CERT Mission Statement

The Temple City Community Emergency Response Team (Temple City CERT) program will train and educate Temple City residents, students, business community members, and visitors in emergency preparedness and basic disaster response techniques, thereby enabling them to prepare and take an active role in providing critical support to emergency services personnel during emergencies/disasters, while increasing Temple City’s overall level of disaster readiness.

CERT Basic Training
The CERT program was designed with the citizen responder in mind. CERT members are trained to help mitigate problems during the first 72 hours following a disaster.  It is during this crucial time period when damaged roads, disrupted communications, and high call volume may restrict access by professional emergency services.

The CERT program provides private citizens with basic skills that will enable them to handle their own needs and then to respond to their community’s needs in the aftermath of a disaster.

CERT training includes Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety, Emergency Medical Operations, Light Search & Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism, and Disaster Simulation. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an emergency event when emergency personnel may not be immediately available to help.

Temple City CERT
Temple City CERT (TC CERT) members participate as a volunteer emergency response team. TC CERT members supplement the City of Temple City’s Emergency Response Team and other emergency services agencies in times of emergency and/or disaster situations.

Temple City CERT members also provide a service and assistance during non-emergency situations. CERT members assist Temple City staff and other partner agencies during pre-planned events and activities.
