Biz's Message

While most 16 year olds are worried about grades or getting in trouble with their parents, I experienced first hand just how important screening for colorectal cancer can be.  I think it is extremely important to spread awareness and encourage routine screenings because it is truly a matter of life or death.  This time last year, I was living life as a normal 16 year old, only to find out a couple months later that I had colorectal cancer.  Although I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and had surgery,  and experienced a rough 6 month recovery, I was lucky because the cancer was found before it had spread.  I have learned how to live differently and appreciate every day I am given.  I am thankful to all my doctors and always think about those who were not as lucky as me, like my own grandmother.  Get screened!  It can save your life, I am proof of that.
