The nonprofit organization has provided a few ways that people can help: volunteer in the home with the kids, provide meals, in-kind donations of activities or supplies for activities for children. Monetary donations may be made by texting “Give” to 954-329-0603.

How does Children’s Harbor make a difference?
Children’s Harbor ensures that brothers and sisters, as well as pregnant or parenting teen moms and their babies are able to live together in a safe and loving home while in foster care.
Our Family Strengthening Program sends family support counselors into homes throughout Broward County that are experiencing personal crisis to help support, stabilize and prevent the breakdown of the family.
Our Independent Living teams provide housing, life skills and wrap around support to teens who are aging of foster care to guide them towards self-sufficiency and independence.
How does Children’s Harbor make a difference? Children’s Harbor keeps together foster brothers and sisters, as well as pregnant or parenting foster teens and their babies, in a safe and loving home. Our Family Strengthening Program sends counselors into homes throughout Broward County to help prevent the removal of children from the home.
Children’s Harbor also helps prevent child abuse through the Family Strengthening Program. Each year, 200 families across Broward County receive in-home counseling to improve parenting.
True North, helping fostered young adults age 17-23, build healthy relationships & economic stability; Grounded for Life, provides mentors to help foster children with academic success; Brown’s Harbor, a supportive housing program for former foster youth.
Grounded For Life
The Grounded for Life program seeks to support foster care youth’s aspirations to graduate from high school though relationship building, problem solving, and persistence. The project will “ground” students for life by connecting them to caring adults and boosting their belief in themselves.
True North
Children’s Harbor was awarded a $5 million, 5 year grant from the Department of Health & Human Services Administration for Children and Families Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education Grants. The grant, entitled True North, will help 200 young adults, age 18 to 23, who have been involved in the foster care system, forge pathways to healthy relationships and economic stability. The grant runs from with Oct. 1, 2015 through Sept. 30, 2020.
Brown’s Harbor
Brown’s Harbor, located on the Howard C. Forman Campus in Pembroke Pines, is a unique housing program for transitioning youth ages 18-23. Brown’s Harbor evolved from an extraordinary collaboration of partners all focused on one goal - to help former foster youth bridge the gap from dependence to independence.
