Join Us for The 9th Annual Run for the Ring 5K/Walk and Kids Fun Run!

The 9th Annual Run for the Ring 5K/Walk and Kids Fun Run will bring together Barbara Davis Center patients, loyal supporters, and running enthusiasts to run for the brass ring – the cure for type 1 diabetes. All proceeds from this run/walk will support the efforts and programs of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of Barbara Davis Center patients living with type one diabetes and their families through education, support, advocacy, and research. Run for the Ring will feature music to get the morning going, pre-race warm-up, kids interactive activities and games, Kids Zone DJ, foam party at the finish line, and more. 5K & Fun Run Registration includes breakfast bites, timing chip (5K only), race bib, awards ceremony, and Run for the Ring performance t-shirt. Sleep-In Registration includes Colorado flag shirt, which will be mailed to registrant. Must register before July 15, 2023 to guarantee t-shirt. Those with type 1 diabetes will have the option of receiving a special t-shirt! Please indicate whether or not you would like your special shirt at registration. Every participant can decorate a back bib that says RUNNING FOR MY “1” to honor their type 1 loved one. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please bring another adult to watch your children while you are running. Want FREE REGISTRATION? Become a Fundraiser, raise $200, and your registration fee will be refunded!

Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes

The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes specializes in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. Clinicians, clinical researchers, and basic biomedical scientists collaborate at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and cure for type 1 diabetes. The BDC was founded by Marvin and Barbara Davis in 1978 and is currently one of the largest diabetes institutes in the world. The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 8,000 children and adults with diabetes as well as provides inpatient care to patients with any type of diabetes who are seen at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. Center clinical faculty members teach medical, physician assistant, nursing, and dental students on campus. Residents and endocrinology fellows receive critical training at the leading edge of diabetes clinical care and research.

  • >90% of Colorado's children with type 1 diabetes are seen at the BDC
  • More than 8,000 patients seen each year - BDC clinics accept >700 new patients annually
  • 40% of patients at the BDC are under-insured or not insured at all, with 30% of families living at or below the poverty line

The Children's Diabetes Foundation

The Children’s Diabetes Foundation was established by Barbara and Marvin Davis in 1977 in Denver, Colorado. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to support the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, where thousands of patients of all ages from all over the world receive the finest diabetes care available.

ABOUT THE GUILD OF CDF

The Guild is the volunteer membership group of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation and the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes. Guild Members have the unique opportunity to be involved in program and event committees that make a difference in our community. Members symbolize the spirit of pulling together, accomplishing great things individually and as a team. The Guild, with its more than 200 dedicated members, continues with fundraising efforts in the tireless fight to conquer diabetes. Since inception in 1979, The Guild has contributed more than $2 million to the Barbara Davis Center.
