It’s that time of year again … school bells will ring and Montgomery County children will be back in school.  As usual, the kids will be excited about the start of a new school year.  

Many of their parents, however, will be worried, wondering if they can provide the necessary and nutritious food their children need to develop strong bodies and minds. 

Now, parents have even more reason to be concerned. Social safety net services have been cut, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits were cut by $167 billion nationwide.  Of the 70,000 Montgomery County residents who receive SNAP benefits, 7% (or 4,900!) of our county neighbors lost their benefits.

As you can see, your support of Bethesda Help is critical, as more families are turning to food programs like ours to meet basic needs.  

Food donations are down, and the price of food we purchase for the pantry is up. We stand ready and able to deliver food, but we need your help to keep the Bethesda Help pantry stocked. 

Bethesda Help will use your donation to purchase food in bulk (at much lower cost). More than 97% of your donation will be used for food assistance.

Your donation will be used to provide breakfast or lunch to our smallest clients, and/or to provide dinner for an entire family. Whatever the meal, you are helping to alleviate the most basic of needs:  hunger.
