The mission of the Old Baldy Foundation is the historic preservation and maintenance of the Old Baldy Lighthouse, North Carolina’s oldest standing lighthouse, and historical education and outreach of the rich maritime history of the Cape Fear Region. The lighthouse was in a state of disrepair when this organization formed in the 1980s. With the foundations’ stewardship, the lighthouse stands well maintained at over 200 years old and has become a beloved cultural treasure for the Cape Fear Region and state.
