Calvin Classic 5K and Youth Fun Run

The USATF certified 5K course runs through Calvin's scenic, relatively flat university campus. The 5K race will begin with the handcycle racers starting just before the runners, and walkers starting just behind the runners. Strollers are welcome but must stay at the back of the race. Bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards and animals are not allowed on the course. All participants must be registered and have a race number to participate. Note: If it's decided that an in-person race is not a possibility, we will transfer registrations to the virtual race option.

*Each participant receives a race shirt; shirts are youth and unisex sizes. Register by September 16 to receive your guaranteed shirt size on race day. Registrations past the two-week mark will be given on a first come, first serve basis during packet pickup hours.

Registration Details

Handcycle racers will start just before runners. Handcycle racers must yield to runners in the event that the runners catch up with handcycle racers. Handcyclists, please use the Lake Drive or Burton Street entrances when entering the campus. Handcyclists may park in the circle drive in front of Hoogenboom Gym.

Registration Details

The Fun Run is for children ages 3-9. The races start and end at the Start/Finish line (Knollcrest Dining Hall). Races are divided by age groups.

Distances are 100 meters (ages 3-4), one-quarter mile (ages 5-6) and one-half mile (ages 7-9); these are flexible based on what's appropriate for each child. Parents may accompany very young children (no registration needed for parents).

*Youth Fun Run participants will also receive a participation ribbon and Calvin sticker to commemorate their achievement.

Compete from anywhere in the world! You'll receive a Calvin Classic 5K shirt, bib, and Calvin sticker in the mail so you can participate in your race gear; register two weeks before the race to ensure gear delivery before you run. Share a photo or video of yourself in your race day shirt and bib on social media using the hashtag #CalvinClassic5K!

The Virtual Youth Fun Run is perfect for children ages 3-9. Encourage your kids to walk or run anywhere from 100 yards to a quarter-mile (or whatever distance they are most comfortable with).
