Description

Due to massive destruction of Mexico Beach by Hurricane Micheal we were forced to cancel Beach Blast this year. We have received hundreds of emails from athletes asking how they can help........so we have, FINALLY, FIGURED IT OUT: WE ARE GOING VIRTUAL! ARE YOU WITH US?

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! We had to close registration today because we have reached the maximum of medals and t-shirts we can provide. Ordering more items would cause packages to be delayed and a lot more expensive. Our awesome triathletes and duathletes donated over $3000 to Mexico Beach locals! Once all packages are mailed, we will know how much we will be donating from the event itself.

Packages will be mailed MONDAY APRIL 22nd! Wear your t-shirt proudly!

Mexico Beach residents have always been welcoming to Beach Blast Tri & Du and supported and volunteered twice a year since 2005. We want to pay back! Sign up, do the race on your own, send us your stats (or don't, or send just data from your bike and run since swim may be difficult to send) and get a POST HURRICANE MICHAEL BEACH BLAST TRIATHLON & DUATHLON T-SHIRT, BIB AND MEDAL!

Do a triathlon in your own pool, your neighborhood road or even on a treadmill and we will mail you a unique BEACH BLAST TRIATHLON AND DUATHLON t-shirt, bib and medal. You can even take the whole week to complete the event! We set the date for April 27th because that is when we hold the race if Hurricane Micheal had not paid Mexico Beach a brutal visit. The fee is $39. Mexico Beach cannot handle a triathlon this year but volunteers, businesses, churches, El Governor Motel, Police Department, CDC Office - everyone in Mexico Beach had been so good to our event since 2005, we want to be good back! Are you with us? Consider it a small donation to help Mexico Beach residents rebuild after the one of most powerful storms ever hit the US soil.

You will have the chance to post your 'results' - data from your training devices on our Facebook page. While this is not mandatory, it will be a great conversation topic! You can send the evidence of completing the race distances to BeachBlastTri@gmail.com but it is not required. You can send a screenshot from an app, your watch, your laptop or even a photo of your treadmill results for your runs. You can use MayMyRun / MapMyRide, Strava, Garmin or any other digital fitness app.Submitting evidence of your swim distance is harder, unless you have a swim compatible device so you will we believe you did it.At the end of the day, if you don't do it, you would only be lying to yourself!

Our prediction is, depending on the number of participants, we will be able to donate between $15 - $20 per participants. The more participants we have, the lower prices of tees and medals will be and we will be able help more. Invite everyone you know! Anyone can do this!

Sign up now and show your support!

THIS WAS BEACH BLAST TRIATHLON & DUATHLON BEFORE HURRICANE MICHAEL:

Beach Blast TRI & DU offers choices: Sprint or Olympic distance and Triathlon or Duathlon.

Beach Blast happens twice a year - in April (28) and September (8). 2018 will be our 14th year and we hope you join us to celebrate endurance sports and lifestyle! Races take place on the beautiful Gulf Coast and its magical beaches.

BEACH BLAST consists of 4 races; pick yours:

Sprint Triathlon 0.35 mile swim - 15 mile bike - 3.1 mile run

Sprint Duathlon 1.2 mile run - 15 mile bike - 3.1 mile run

Olympic Triathlon 0.7 mile swim - 25 mile bike - 6.2 mile run

Olympic Duathlon 3.1 mile run - 25 mile bike - 6.2 mile run

All 4 races start from the same spot on the beautiful Mexico Beach, at El Governor Motel (HWY 98). Olympic races take off at 7:00 am CT and Sprint distance races start at 7:30am CT. Swimmers and runners (duathletes after the first run on the beach) will follow the same course to T1, on the bike, T2, and run. Participants of Sprint distance races will turn around on the bike and run before Olympic participants will. Having 4 races at once makes Beach Blast a unique event and a great destination for a weekend on the beach! The El Governor Motel is located directly on the Gulf of Mexico along scenic U.S. Highway 98 in the heart of Mexico Beach, Florida, offering the perfect place for your Florida beach vacation, or for a weekend getaway. Our Sprint Race is very first-timer friendly! The distance is great and course is fun and just the right amount of challenging.
