PSRR Free 5K

A fun and friendly evening FREE 5K on a course winding through the Hammel Woods Forest Preserve in Shorewood. This race will be professionally timed and the results will be posted. 

The race will start at 6:00PM. The race will start near the hidden shelter of the park. A route map is included. Course marshals will be placed to guide participants and conduct Strollers and leashed pets are welcome. No rollerblades or skateboards please. There will be mile markers and one staffed water table on the course. 

Race day registration is 5:00-5:40PM but must be done online only. All participants must sign a waiver which is included in the online registration. Children under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian; this can be done online. There is no pre-race packet pick-up. All participants must check-in at the race site to receive their race bib. 

There is limited parking at the hidden shelter area. Additional parking is available at one of the other parking areas in the preserve. The park closes at sundown, so please plan to exit by 8:00PM.

Water and sports drink will be provided after the race. You may bring your own beverages to share with your family, friends, and fellow participants.

Race results will be posted online in overall and age group formats. 

This race is sponsored by the Prairie State Road Runners to benefit various charities. As we have done in the past, we are collecting school supplies. We will have boxes and containers for these at race check-in. Any kind of school supplies are needed, but in particular there is a need for adult sized/styled backpacks. In lieu of school supplies, we will accept donations by cash or check at race check-in. Please make checks payable to PSRR.
