Description

SME is proud to host the SME MFG Day 5K race in support of Manufacturing Day, October 2, 2015. We welcome you to join the national movement – and us – as we celebrate manufacturing and inspire the next generation of manufacturers.

 Date: Saturday, October 3, 2015 8:30 a.m. 5K start

Overall winner with receive a manufacturing prize package that includes a 3D printed metal trophy and tickets to the Ford Factory Tour and The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. 

The first 500 5K finishers will receive a 3D printed participant medal. 

The course begins at SME at the Henry Ford College Welcome Center. Runners will go to the right around the back of the HFC campus to the River Rouge Gateway Trail and then onto Fair Lane Drive and round the Estate drive way. They will turn around at Evergreen and then right onto the RRGT again and come back. Water will be provided at the turn around. 

This is a USATF sanctioned course. 

Manufacturing Expo and Packet Pick-Up:

SME Main Entrance by the flags located at the dead end of 1 SME Drive. At the packet pick-up, racers will not only be able to get their race numbers, but have the opportunity to see manufacturing vendors that will be on hand. You’ll even be able to view 3D printer creating something right here on site. 

The Manufacturing Expo will be open during the packet pick-up hours and after the race. Friday, October 2, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 6:30 – 8 a.m. for 5K runners. 

Proceeds: Benefit the SME Education Foundation that provides scholarships for engineering and STEM college students.
