‘Big Game Day’ 10K/5K (Feb. 7, 2016) On Super Bowl weekend, February 5th-7th, 2016, Downtown Las Vegas will be hosting the second annual Big Game 10k. This will be an action-packed weekend filled with exciting football themed events to help celebrate the biggest football game of the year. The Big Game 10k weekend will have a new and expanded Health and Fitness Expo. There will be a concert following the race as a new feature of the Touchdown Tailgate celebration. There will also be even more sports and entertainment celebrities to make this the greatest running party in America! Entries are now open for the Big Game 10k! To enter, you may visit www.biggame10k.com. The Big Game 10k weekend begins on Friday, February 5th, at 3:00 p.m. with the ‘Big Game 10k’ Kickoff party. The race participants have the chance to drink and dine at the award winning restaurants and bars of Downtown Container Park. Downtown Container Park will also provide great shopping and fun music. There will be a packet pick-up that coincides with the Health and Fitness Expo at 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. During the Kickoff party, there will be raffle drawings, football trivia contests, music, and more! Saturday, February 6th, is the Big Game 10k pre-race Carbo Loading Party from 3:00 pm- 5:00 pm located at Nacho Daddy. Late registration and packet pick-up is from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm at the Health and Fitness Expo. Let the races begin! On Super Bowl Sunday, the day kicks off with a costume contest at 7:20 a.m., followed by the Big Game 10k, 10k race, 5k race, and kid’s dash races. The Kids Dash races begin at 7:30 a.m., with the 5k following at 8:00 a.m. The races conclude with the 10k race beginning at 8:30 a.m. The races start at Carson and 8th street, adjacent to Container Park, Downtown Las Vegas, NV. The finish line is at Fremont and 10th street, in Downtown Las Vegas. (Continued) The Touchdown Tailgate and award ceremony takes place immediately following the 5k race and is located at the Gold Spike. The post-race party will continue until noon. The Big Game 10k activities will culminate later on Sunday, where Big Game 10k participants, along with friends and family, can watch the biggest football game of the year together at our Super Bowl viewing party. There will be a three-day Health and Fitness expo going on all weekend. The Expo is expanded with mini-sessions of meditation, yoga, breathing exercises, healthy meal prepping, and tips on SMART goal setting. It’s a great way to learn important fitness tips and interact with fellow runners! The Big Game 10k benefits the Goody Two Shoes Foundation, which provides disadvantaged children and children in crisis with new shoes and socks, as well as other items deemed essential for good health and positive development. For each race entry submitted, $5 from the total amount is donated to this charity. For those who want to celebrate the entire weekend in Downtown Las Vegas, the Downtown Grand, the official hotel for the Big Game 10k, will be offering special room rates. Room rates for the weekend are $39 on Thursday, February 4th, $59 on Friday, February 5th, and $89 on Saturday, February 6th and Sunday, February 7th.
