Liam Zoghby was a true light to this world. Throughout his life he overcame many challenges and spread love and positivity to his community of friends and family. Liam was born with DiGeorge Syndrome which is a chromosomal disorder that results in poor development of several body systems. The syndrome causes heart defects, poor immune system function, a cleft palate, and low levels of calcium in the blood. Liam was born with a defective heart valve and had
to undergo three heart surgeries, numerous procedures, and hospital stays. Liam passed away in January 2024 from a brain aneurysm, at the young age of 22. The Zoghby family spent many visits at Upstate and Golisano Children's Hospital throughout Liam's life. During those long hospital stays they recognized that many families did not have the same support system and financial means to focus solely on caring for their children. The Live Like Liam Foundation was created to provide that financial support to families and caregivers during their stays.
Additionally, Liam was fortunate enough to attend Jamesville DeWitt High School and The InclusiveU program through Syracuse University where he was supported through his academic journey. The Live Like Liam foundation has created a scholarship in Liam's honor which is annually awarded to a senior at Jamesville DeWitt High School. The foundation is also looking to support InclusiveU students with financial needs in order to continue their college experience.
We have strong aspirations for the future of this foundation and are looking forward to giving back to a community that gave so much to Liam.
