Start times: 8:15 AM Kids Run -- 8:30 AM 5K
The Diabetes Dash 5K came to be a short time after Ryan Washburn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in July 2018. After diagnosis, Ryan became very interested in the work of JDRF and knew he wanted to do his part in spreading awareness, giving hope to those dealing with the disease, and fighting for a cure. Not only is our mission to help fund the research efforts to someday find a cure, but we also want to educate the community about Type 1 Diabetes. Proceeds will be donated to JDRF - Southern & Central Ohio Chapter and a scholarship fund of $1,000 will be awarded to a Westerville City School graduating senior living with T1D in 2024.
We would love to have those who are unable to attend on race day join us virtually! Sign up for the virtual 5K and the Diabetes Dash will come to YOU!
If you register four (4) or more 5K registrants together in the same transaction, you'll all receive a $5 discount. Discounts will automatically apply in the cart.
Get your race gear early and visit the running and walking experts at Columbus Running Company in their Westerville location (50 N State 43081) on Friday, July 21 (10a-8p) or Saturday, July 22 (10a-6p) to get your race gear. While you're in, check out the wall of socks that can help keep your feet cool and dry during those warm summer runs! Please bring in food donations to WARM when you stop by packet pickup early or on race day!
Please note: Shipping is only available for those in the virtual event. Any virtual registrants living in Westerville should plan to pick up their materials at early packet pickup - shipping is not available for Westerville residents.
There is ample parking at the Westerville Sports Complex. Please plan to arrive early on race day to be sure you're parked in time for the start. Overflow parking is available at the Westerville Rec Center across Cleveland Ave (please use the approved crosswalks to cross the roadway).
Awards will be provided to top finishers as follows: the top three overall male and female participants, and the top male and female finishers in the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.
