Plan on a festive Thanksgiving holiday weekend and help raise funds to support childhood cancer research at the Chester County Turkey Trot 5k Run/Walk.
The 19th Annual Chester County Turkey Trot is definitely happening!! Due to concerns with gathering a large crowd during this pandemic, this year's event is going to be an awesome VIRTUAL 5K race/walk instead! Although we might not be able to BE together this year, the tradition of this annual event can still bring us TOGETHER for a great cause! So, gather your friends and family around the world,
About that last thing...You will notice that this is a "free" race this year. (What's that you say? Free?...wait a minute...) Yes, free to register. However, as this is typically the ONLY fundraiser for the Downingtown West Cross Country team and a MAJOR one for their partner, the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation, we still need your help! Children with cancer need your help. With a large proportion of in-person events cancelled this year, funding for childhood cancer research will be down unless organizations like Cure4Cam can continue to support, with your help, promising research projects across the country. Yes, you will be asked to "fundraise" and, although fundraising is not required to participate, we ask you to carefully consider making a donation to one/both of these causes as well as pass the word on to family and friends so they may partner with us as well. After all, whether you knew it or not, even our in-person event is a fundraiser supporting both the XC team and Cure4Cam!
All donations to Cure4Cam go to fund valuable childhood cancer research. This race has raised over $300K for childhood cancer research to date. Information on Cure4Cam is available at www.cure4cam.org. The Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by family and friends in memory of Cameron Evans, a teammate and friend who lost his battle with leukemia in May 2012. Cameron was a gifted athlete and a compassionate, positive, and inspiring young man. His perseverance and spirit touched all of us.
Thank you so much to our valued sponsors. To learn more about them, please click on the links below.
Please carefully consider partnering with the DWest XC team and the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation to help make a difference in the life of a child with cancer!
Thank you for being inspired to save a life!
Also, don't miss the opportunity to support the DWest XC team with a small donation at the end of the registration process!
We have something very special for this year's Turkey Trot shirt! Due to the virtual nature of this race and the logistics of T-shirt distribution, we elected t do something a little different this year (Because why not? It's been one of those years!) So...T-shirts are available for a small cost and will be delivered directly to your home, and YOU get to choose...
Although you have the option to not get a shirt, we hope you choose to order one of these unique, commemorative shirts...after all, this is shaping up to be a year to remember!
Childhood cancer: Two words that should not be linked together. Yet, on average, 43 children a day are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S., and cancer remains the #1 cause of death by disease in children less than age 19.
The 19th annual Chester County Turkey Trot, a VIRTUAL 5K Run and Walk this year, hosted by the Downingtown West Cross Country team, is one of the largest of its kind in Chester County, historically registering about 3000 participants. Since a partnership formed between the team and the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation in 2012 after the death of fellow runner, 14-year-old Cameron Evans, from leukemia, sponsorships for the Chester County Turkey Trot have benefitted Cure4Cam. Cure4Cam is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to helping find less toxic, more effective treatments and cures for childhood cancers. 100% of funds donated to Cure4Cam goes to fund childhood cancer projects all over the country. We are reaching out to you today as we continue to work together to raise much-needed funds to support promising childhood cancer research.
With most of Cure4Cam’s in-person fundraising events cancelled for the year due to concerns about coronavirus, our fundraising efforts are even more important. Research projects that typically rely upon small organizations rather than the federal government for funding have taken a hit due to closure and loss of resources. But children with a cancer diagnosis cannot wait. The research needs to keep moving forward to find better, less toxic treatments and cures for these diseases. And we can help. Together.
Although we are keeping costs to a minimum this year due to circumstances, we are still asking you to be as generous as you can. This is a “no registration fee” event and we are relying upon generous donors such as you to sponsor and fundraise to meet our goal. All donations of $250 and above will be acknowledged on Cure4Cam and Turkey Trot websites and social media.
For further info on the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation, see www.cure4cam.org. Sponsorship questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Sponsorships/Donations made be submitted on-line through the "Donations" tab or mail check to Cure4Cam, P.O. Box 211, Lyndell, PA 19354-0211.
Thank you for your kind support!
