Bucks Foodshed 5K Race & 3K Walk

Bucks County Foodshed Alliance (BCFA) and Buy Fresh Buy Local® Bucks County is hosting its 4th Annual Bucks Foodshed 5K & 3K Walk. BCFA invites runners and lovers of local food to Run and Walk for Our Farms on Saturday, September 1, 2018 on Delaware Valley University’s campus. The Foodshed 5K is a timed run with multiple prize categories. This year BCFA is introducing a 3K Walk for families, groups, or individuals. The 5K sets off at 8:30 am and the 3K Walk will begin at 9 am.

All proceeds benefit Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to building a resilient local food system in our community through education and collaboration. Bucks County Foodshed Alliance supports local food producers and consumers through farmers markets, farm tours, educational programs, online resources, and more.
Registration is now open at BucksFoodshed.org/5K. Follow the individual links to register for the 5K Run or the 3K Walk accordingly. The registration link for the 5K Run will take you to Pretzel City Sports online form; pre-register before August 18th - $25, August 18th through August 29th (online) and on race-day (cash or check in-person) - $30. A nominal service fee applies. The registration for the 3K walk will be through BCFA’s site; $10 per adult, $5 per child (12 and under), $25 per family of 3 or more.

The event is rain or shine, and no refunds can be issued. Race t-shirt provided for all 5K and 3K Walk registrants while supplies last.

The course traverses comfortable terrain around Delaware Valley University’s scenic rural campus. DVU offers convenient free parking on the main campus and event participants are welcome to use indoor restrooms in its Life Sciences building. Light refreshments, water stations, and an air-conditioned lounge/gathering-area.

Awards for the 5K are given for overall male and female and top three males and females in 8 age brackets: 14 & under, 15-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years, 70+ years. All awards will be dispensed after the finish of the 5K; none will be mailed. Prizes are foodie and farm related, including gift certificates to local restaurants and running stores as well as baskets of vegetables and fruits from local farms.

Walkers will enjoy a Scavenger Hunt for families with children and educational and entertaining signs along the way. The course is paved and passes by horses, cows, and Bucks County Farmland. This event presents an opportunity for everyone to “vote with their feet” for local farms and food by helping Bucks County Foodshed Alliance promote a thriving local food system throughout the community.

Same-day registration and check-in opens at 7:30am in the Life Sciences Building. The 5K begins at 8:30 am and the 3K Walk begins at 9:00 am. GPS: 700 E. Butler Ave., Doylestown, PA 18901. Enter campus at Admissions Drive from New Britain Road.
