For the month of October, Capital Trail users will have the opportunity to celebrate the Trail’s 5th birthday by completing activities, earning badges, and learning fun facts about the Capital Trail and the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation (VCTF). The overall goal is to celebrate the Trail and its users. This event will be FREE but participants will have the option to add-on a 5 year celebratory Capital Trail patch for $12 after registering.

How it works

Thank you for signing up to celebrate the Capital Trail’s 5th Birthday! To participate and earn badges you will need to complete 5 of the 8 activities in celebration of the Trail turning 5! You choose which five you want to complete! Once you complete an activity, don’t forget to enter your results HERE by clicking the “Submit Virtual Results” button! For additional instructions on how to enter results on RunSignUp, please check out this blog post.

Please note, you do not need to submit proof! You just have to enter your activity. You will have the option to add pictures should you choose to do so.

Trail Activities

Bike/Walk/Use the Trail
- This one is simple! Just go out on the Trail and be active!
Check out the Cap Trail Mobile Table
- On October 2nd, from 9 AM to NOON, our staff will be at the Four Mile Creek Trailhead with water and snacks to talk about the Capital Trail!
Trail Cleanup
- On October 3rd, we will be hosting a Trail-wide cleanup. You can sign up HERE or go out and collect a bag of trash on your own during the month of October!
Share the Trail with a friend
- Invite a friend to be active on the VCT with you!
Trail Trivia
- On October 20th, we will send an email and post Trail Trivia on our Facebook Page for a chance to win a VCT commemorative Trail patch!
Support a Trail Business
- Support any business on the VCT such as Cul’s Courthouse Grille, Spoke+Art, Indian Fields Tavern, Kul Wheels, Ronnie’s BBQ, Conch Republic, etc. We love our Trail businesses!
Post a selfie with a Mile Marker
- Take a selfie with a Mile Marker and post it on social media! Don’t forget to tag us @virginiacapitaltrail and #virginiacapitaltrail
Complete the Capital Trail Scavenger Hunt
- Complete the Capital Trail Scavenger Hunt which can be found on our website. Don’t forget to tag us @virginiacapitaltrail and #virginiacapitaltrail

Trail Patch

You can get a limited edition Virginia Capital Trail Patch for $12. The first 250 patches will be mailed on November 2nd.
