The Vermont Open presents The 2021 Banked Slalom; a two-day banked slalom event hosted by Stratton Mountain.

This year's Vermont Open will take place March 13 and 14, 2021 as a two-day banked slalom event open to 200 riders split into seven age divisions. Each of the seven age divisions will have first, second and third place finishers recognized.  Male and Female will compete and be judged separately. Registration will be capped at 200 riders: 100 riders in  17 years old & under, and 100 riders 18 years old & over (Number of riders per age group may be adjusted based on enrollment.). Note: Helmets and Masks are required for all participants.

Riders will give it their all in a downhill slalom course featuring berms, bumps, jumps and rollers twisting down East Byrnes Side. Riders will be individually timed, and the fastest times at the end of the weekend will go home with trophy prizes.


Per VSAA guidelines, candidates are eligible to participate if:

  •        They have a verifiable Vermont address 
  •        They are a member of a ski/snowboard/racing club that is based in Vermont (examples are SWSC. SVT VARA)
  •        Students enrolled at Vermont academy ski schools. Students should list their school as their address


  • 1 class: Amateur
  •  Age Groups:
    •  I. 17 and under (100 participants)
      •   8 and under
      •   9-12
      • 13-17
    • II. 18 and over (100 participants)
      • 18-25
      • 26-34
      • 35-43
      • 44+
  • Race is based on 2 heats per participant, and you will be able to keep the best of both times



Race Fee: $99.00 per participant + tax and fee

All VTO participants will need a valid 20/21 Season Pass or daily lift ticket. Lift Tickets are NOT included in the registration prices and must be purchased separately. A 2-day ticket for this event is $40. Lift tickets are for participants only.



Each age division above will be awarded 1, 2, 3 place trophy prize

Male and Female will compete and be judged separately.

First place in each age division will receive a Never Summer Snowboard

Due to social distancing requirements, there will be limited attendance at award distribution

8:30-9:30      Practice on course: 17 and under

9:30-10:30    Practice on course: 18 and over

11:00-2:00    Race starts. Heat 1: 17 and under

2:00-2:30      Short break

2:30-4:00      Race starts. Heat 1: 18 and up


Sunday, March 14

7:30-8:30     Check in designated window outdoors at Guest Services

9:00-11:30   Heat 2: 17 and under

11:30-12:00 Short break

12:00-2:30   Heat 2: 18 and up

3:30             Limited attendance: outdoor prize distribution
