Description

Moonrise Bike Ride is Ottawa Bike and Trail's premier bikepacking, music, and food festival on the Flint Hills Trail State Park.

Moonrise Main Event

You'll ride the Flint Hills Trail State Park to Pomona Lake State Park, savor an incredible chuckwagon dinner and breakfast, experience a relaxing evening of live bluegrass music, enjoy a ride in the moonlight, and sleep under the stars. Most importantly, you'll make a lot of new friends and lasting memories.

Moonrise Campfire (Optional 2nd Night)

If you want even more Moonrise Bike Ride magic, the 2-night campfire option is for you. Your weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon with a social gathering at Riverbank Brewing in Council Grove. You'll embark on a 20-mile ride along the Flint Hills Trail State Park to Basecamp in Allen, Kansas, where you'll set up your tent and relish an evening of delightful food and musical entertainment by the campfire. Saturday morning will greet you with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a 32-mile journey to Pomona Lake State Park for the Main Event festivities. Sunday you'll continue along the Flint Hills Trail to Ottawa.

New dates! We’re moving the dates back a few weeks to help avoid the August heat. The new dates are September 6, 7, and 8 with our 1-night Main Event starting on Saturday and our Campfire option starting on Friday.

Point-to-Point Rider Support: For riders starting in Council Grove for the Main Event (1-night) or Campfire Option (2-night), we’re changing the route to a point-to-point ride. For these two events, riders will start in Council Grove and finish in Ottawa rather than riding back to Council Grove. This will allow us to better support riders and also allows riders to experience nearly 72 miles of the Flint Hills Trail. Riders can choose to have their own transportation or use our shuttle service below. This does not affect the 1-night Main Event starting and finishing in Ottawa.

Rider Shuttle Transportation: In order to accommodate point-to-point riders needing transportation we are adding two shuttle options. One to take riders to the start in Council Grove on Friday and a return shuttle to take riders back to the start in Council Grove on Sunday. This means that point-to-point riders can choose to park at the start or at the end, and we’ll transport you and your bike to the other end. Our transportation service will have very limited spots, so if you want to take advantage of this service, you should register early. Just choose the shuttle option when you register for the Main Event (1-night) Council Grove Start or the Campfire Option (2-night).
