The Maine Summer Adventure Race is an annual event designed to showcase the most beautiful, interesting, and fun parts of Maine. Self-supported teams one to four travel nonstop on an unmarked, linear course via mountain bike, foot, and boat, navigating by map and compass. Adventure racing is the ultimate test of endurance, strategy, and teamwork, which is why this race is known as "The hardest day in Maine."
Estimated minimum distances (in no particular order) are: 10 miles of hiking, 60 miles of biking including optional technical mountain biking, and 5 miles of paddling. Extra, optional checkpoints will add significantly to the total distances traveled in each of those disciplines.
The 24-hour race will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 22 and will end at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 23. Check-in and map hand-out begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday. We will announce the host location soon. We expect the host location to be in Brunswick, ME.
