Description
The Labor Day 5K run, which weaves through the beautiful Hillsdale city park system, is unique among Michigan races. All runners, except men aged 19 to 29, are given a HEAD START based on age and gender. This means ANYONE, male or female, young or old, has a chance to win. Champions, both male and female, have ranged from 12 years old to 65. The TOP FIFTEEN finishers will receive display-worthy awards. Walkers follow the same course and the TOP THREE receive awards.
The course for the 5K run and walk begins and ends at Sandy Beach recreational facility at 300 Waterworks Drive. It travels along Baw Beese Lake. The course, with some rolling hills, is accurately marked at each kilometer and mile. Volunteers will man aid stations just after the one- and two-mile marks. Bagels, fresh fruit, and water will be served at the end of the races.
Race-day, on-site registrations are $20 and will be accepted from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.
All proceeds benefit the cross country programs at Hillsdale Community Schools.
