Race Nights

Blueseventy Wednesday Night Swim Race

July 19, August 9
1/2 mile, 1 mile, or 2 miles

Two Wednesday nights will be timed practice races happening on a Half-Mile Course.  You'll swim the number of laps necessary to complete the distance.  If you'd rather not race, please come for a workout. You can swim the warmup at 6:30, then continue with a workout around the buoy course after the race begins.

Blueseventy Wetsuits

Blueseventy and Northwest Tri & Bike will have a demo fleet of wetsuits available to trial at the Race Nights.  They will be first-come, first-served so arrive early in your swimsuit so you can get right to trying suits on.

Schedule

5:30:  Check-in Begins at the boat launch picnic area. You MUST check in!
6:30:  Race briefing at the shore & Warm-up.
6:45:   All races begin
7:50: No more laps begin. Must be to the start of your last lap by this time

The Course
There will be a half mile rectangular buoy course set up with large triangle buoys.  The race begins at the northeast buoy (the same spot where the coach hangs out during the workouts)
You'll swim the number of laps needed to complete the distance you registered for.
.5 mile - 1 lap
1 mile - 2 laps
2 mile - 4 laps

Since this is a practice race, you're welcome to change distances before or during the race - just let us know after the race what you ended up swimming so we can keep the results accurate.
Bring your own swim cap to wear - any color will do.

Parking
Parking can be limited especially on warm and sunny evenings.  There are some slots available in the boat launch parking lot.  Don't park in the trailer spots!  You'll get ticketed. There is more parking in the Main parking lot off Kent-Kangley Road.  The Soos Creek Trailhead is 1/4 mile north and has more parking. Plan to arrive early, if possible, to save yourself some stress.

Safety and Guidelines
1. If you get into some trouble and need help, wave your hand above your head and call for help.  A lifeguard, kayaker, other water staff will help you.
2. Open Water Swim rules apply.  You must go around each corner buoy, and do your best to not interfere with the progress of other swimmers. Drafting is legal and encouraged!
