Randy Wilson Memorial 4 on the 4th Virtual Run

Thu July 1 - Thu July 15 Flagstaff, AZ 86001 US

Events

Description

As the in person run was held on July 4th and raised 116 pounds of food, this is the DONATIONS and VIRTUAL entry site for the traditional FREE Randy Wilson Memorial 4 on the 4th iconic Flagstaff holiday run.

Inspired by the Dipsea Race in California, Race Co-Director Caroline Herrington's father, Randy Wilson, established the Flagstaff FREE 4 on the 4th as a local tradition in 2009.  Twelve years ago, Randy started this homemade race with the help of Neil Weintraub, Jack Welch, Mike Elder, the card stock aisle at Michael's, and Caroline's crafting skills.  News of the race was spread through word-of-mouth and has been a local's favorite ever since.

Randy's vision was for all runners to arrive at the finish line at the same time and celebrate together.  Randy passed away in July 2018, missing the event in 2019.   We move forward and continue the 4 on the 4th race tradition with this Virtual aspect of the Run -  to honor our national holiday and especially Randy's memory and his many contributions to our community.

Limited in-person Flagstaff trail space, but unlimited DONATION and VIRTUAL participation and support opportunities -  our hope is that you will join us as we continue to offer support for the Flagstaff Family Food Bank through this great run as well.

We'd love this race to be a part of everyone's 4th of July celebrations.  Happy running and we hope you enjoy this opportunity to get out and race the 4 on the 4th with a great view of the Peaks!
