Milestone for Peak Pikas

Unlocked on 11/6/2022!

You are officially 10-miles into your race, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate your success than introducing you to the largest tree in the world by volume – the General Sherman Tree.

Standing at 275 feet (83 meters) with a 36-foot (11-meter) diameter base, the General Sherman is the largest tree in the world by trunk volume. It comprises 52,508 cubic feet (1,487 cubic meters) in total.

Most of the bulk of the General Sherman Tree consists of the non-living heartwood of the tree. Only a few feet near the outer edge is actively growing and alive. The General Sherman Tree is an estimated 2,200 years old – imagine the stories this tree could tell!
