The purpose of our events is to empower attendees to take tangible action against gender-based and interpersonal violence by encouraging attendees to do what's right, respect others, and allow all individuals to perform with excellence.  We do this to honor the memory of Lauren McCluskey, a University of Utah student-athlete who was murdered on campus in 2018 by a man she briefly dated. It is the foundation’s mission, that through the provision of resources, education, and community engagement, our work, and partnerships, will change the culture that responds poorly to dating violence on campuses. Beyond the race, Lauren's Lap is a platform for education, advocating collective solutions to address interpersonal violence. Attendees are immersed in a supportive atmosphere, fostering awareness and empowerment. Through stories, activities, mascots, and community engagement, Lauren's Lap becomes a catalyst for social change.
