This weekend I'll be running, walking and biking in memory of my cousin Bob who passed away in 2018 at age 33 from complications of a life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
The money I raise will go to the Rock CF Foundation, a non-profit that raises awareness of CF (a genetic disorder that clogs the lungs and pancreas with mucus making it difficult for patients to breath) and inspires people living with CF to lead a healthy lifestyle. Your support will help fund various initiatives at Rock CF including my favorite, "Kicks Back" in which RUNdetroit partners with Rock CF to donate running shoes to Cystic Fibrosis patients with the belief that regular exercise can help maintain lung function.
Rock CF's programming is largely funded by a big half marathon/5K that normally takes place on this weekend every year. Without in-person events, organizers have had to find new ways to fundraise and this year's challenge is to cover 65,000 miles and raise $25,000 across all participants. I know I'm going to cover at least 20 miles and I'm very thankful for any help you can give in reaching my fundraising goal. <3
