I turn 50 this year and reach the 10-year anniversary of my first breast cancer diagnosis, and the three year anniversary of my recurrence during Covid where I had to do all the steps alone and masked. A full two years of my 40s were spent in active cancer treatment, and neither kid has any recollection of pre-cancer me. Breast cancer sucks. It feels like your own female body trying to destroy you. Thankfully science is amazing and so much progress has been made andany women will overcome the diagnosis and continue to live long full lives. But not all do, and that would be my goal- to progress science so far that mortality from.breast cancer is no longer a thing. Even better would be vaccinations to prevent it from occurring at all. Anyway, I am going all in on breast cancer fundraising and community connection this year in honor of my 50th and gratitude for 10 (and ideallyany, many more) bonus years post diagnosis!
