I am honored to run in support of the Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation—a cause deeply aligned with my beliefs and experiences. As a woman in the military, I’ve embraced strength, vigilance, and resilience. My service has taught me not only to protect and support my fellow service members but also to champion a world where every woman feels powerful and safe.
Vanessa’s tragic death in 2016, while simply out for a jog, is heartbreakingly familiar to me. The foundation she inspired works tirelessly to help women live boldly—through self-defense workshops, safety awareness programs, and violence-prevention education Marcotte foundation inspiring women to ‘live boldly and fearlessly' . That mission resonates on a personal level. In uniform, I’ve committed my life to defending others; now I want to extend that protection beyond the base, into everyday life—helping women feel empowered the moment they step outside.
The Foundation’s striking initiatives—STRIKE for Vanessa workshops, partnerships with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, and community 5Ks—don’t just raise funds; they build confidence, teach self-defense, and create connection lines between women and those who can support them Womens-self-defense-workshop . As someone trained in tactical skills and leadership under pressure, I bring not only physical strength, but the confidence and presence needed to navigate threats—skills I’m proud to share and amplify.
Being part of this run is more than symbolic. It’s my commitment to amplify women’s voices, spotlight the ongoing threat of gender-based violence (over 600 women assaulted daily in the U.S.), and contribute to a world where women can truly live boldly and fearlessly—just as Vanessa did.
In summary:
Military womanhood has instilled in me discipline, courage, situational awareness, and the drive to protect others.
Vanessa’s story reminds me of why empowerment matters, even on a solitary jog.
The Foundation’s mission—to educate, equip, and embolden women—perfectly aligns with my values and abilities.
By running for the VTM Foundation, I carry forward Vanessa’s legacy: joining a community that empowers women through action, advocacy, and courage. As a veteran and a woman, I pledge to stand with and uplift every woman who deserves to feel safe and free—on the trail, on the street, and in life.
Thank you for your Support!!
