I am excited to participate in this awesome event, and grateful for your support and encouragement!
I'm a multiple brain injury survivor and I was alone (without assistance) for nearly all of my recovery, that is until I was finally diagnosed many years later and then introduced to a wonderful community of fellow survivors at the (nonprofit) David Krempels Brain Injury Center (KBIC), based in Portsmouth, NH. Today's event is to benefit that great and wonderful, truly beneficial cause, brought to you by The Cisco Brewers Portsmouth 5K fundraising event. (*Thank you so much Cisco Brewers!)
The David Krempels Brain Injury Center (KBIC) is dedicated to improving the quality of life of people living with brain injuries through evidence-based programming, shared experiences, and support in a welcoming community. I, personally, attend KBIC 4 times a week, in-person and online, and together with all of the staff, interns, and fellow members, I'm no longer alone with my struggles and experiences. (My personal membership would not be possible without the selfless act of donors like you!)
While everyone's circumstances, experiences, conditions, and outcomes are all unique to them, I'm happy to report that for me, personally, there's been noticeable (testable) improvement in my own unique conditions after joining the KBIC. Quite a few of my conditions have benefited in fact, including but not limited to: some neurological testing results, cognitive endurance, and a better understanding of many of my conditions. Having a supportive community, no doubt, in and of itself is beneficial to one's own healing, however I credit the KBIC programming to helping me, and I have personally witnessed it helps others as well.
