Please help me raise some much needed research funds in honor of Zelos, whom we lost July 4th this year. While we were lucky to have had him 14 years, many other dogs with DM aren't as lucky. Nor are many as lucky as Zelos was to have such a slow progression to his decline. To those who are unaware of what DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) is it is very similar to Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Both are progressive spinal cord diseases characterized by a gradual loss of motor neuron function, leading to increasing muscle weakness and paralysis and eventually death.
We are their voice! 💜 No pup should suffer from Degenerative Myelopathy, and no pawrent should have to watch their beloved companion lose their mobility. Together, we can #ShadeOutDM - but we need your voice, your heart, and your help to make it happen. 🐾
This is our 7th Annual RACE and our fifth year as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every team, every mile, every share helps us reach more people and more pups.
Our mission:
- 🐶 Honor pups currently on this journey or remember those we’ve lost.
- 🤝 Support other owners through our #ShadeOutDM member support group on Facebook.
- 📚 Educate the public that DM can be prevented through responsible breeding and proper health testing before breeding.
- 💌 Raise funds for our Loaner Cart Program and mission efforts - attending events, veterinary conferences, and shipping awareness materials across the globe to “bark out loud” for the pups.
