The mission of the Golden Bear Run Club (GBRC) is to promote and develop youth distance running (cross country and track and field) in Upper Arlington, Ohio.  We want to see and have seen progress and personal records (PRs) for all of our runners from the beginning of the season until the end, with positive team development and outstanding sportsmanship.  Practices and training are customized so that the team peaks at the final meet of the season or sets your runner up for a great upcoming season at Hastings MS or Jones MS as we coordinate with their coaches.  We will also coordinate club team registrations for State cross country and track meets at the end of the season.  We have typically averaged a minimum of 2.5 miles of running per practice, up to 4-5 miles, and have fun doing so; we also play well with other activities like soccer or lacrosse.  We keep our team small and stay local for our races as we understand the headaches of out-of-town travel for sports, especially those that end rather quickly like a race.

Golden Bear Run Club is open to those entering 4th, 5th, or 6th grades in Upper Arlington, as well as those running for Hastings or Jones Middle School cross country team (for the summer).  Participation in a previous GBRC or other running club's season is required or a recommendation from a Coach or GBRC family member.  GBRC is a USA Track & Field Certified Club (#17-8928) and 501c3 non-profit organization.  GBRC is not affiliated with the City of Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation Department or Upper Arlington Schools.  Fees are based on an expense-only and volunteer coach-based approach per local regulations.
