After 19 years of sporting goods retail in Beaufort, SC under my belt, I decided it was time for a new venture. With my past experience in retail paired with my passion for the outdoors, purchasing Higher Ground seemed to be the perfect fit! This dream came true in October 2010. I am ecstatic about this new adventure and look forward to many more years of success. I have already had the pleasure of meeting many of the loyal customers that help to make Higher Ground what it is. I look forward to meeting the rest of you! Our mission at Higher Ground is to provide Beaufort and its surrounding communities with an all-inclusive outfitter that offers awesome customer service, a fun environment, competitive pricing & quality product lines.
The business was incorporated in March 2003 and the doors opened in April 2004. Higher Ground began in a small 1200 sq. ft shop, complete with a beautiful 35' outdoor climbing wall! After 3 1/2 years at this location, the business was moved to a brand new (nearly 4000 sq. ft) space! The climbing wall didn't move to the new location, but fortunately, found a new home at the local YMCA.
