REGISTRATION POLICY

• There are NO refunds for RIVAL events.

• Bib transfers to non-registered people are NOT permitted.

• Registrations are not transferable to other RIVAL events. 

• Participants may elect to defer their entry to the following year's event (see below).

• Race organizers reserve the right to delay, cancel or postpone (reschedule) a race due to extreme weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. In the case of this, no refunds will be permitted. 

• Pets, baby joggers/strollers, in-line skates, bicycles, and any other non-official wheeled vehicles are prohibited.

DEFER RULES

• Deferrals do not carry over beyond the following year’s event.

• Defer entries must be used for the same race and can not be used for any other race the following year.

• Deferred entries cannot be transferred to other non-registered people.

• Should you chose not to use your defer entry the following year, it will not be refunded.

• If the race does not take place the following year, you will receive a refund for the defer fee. 

• For triathlons, duathlons, aquabike and swimrun - the deferral fee covers the race entry fee only. USAT one-day passes and registration processing fees are not included in your credit.

• A one-time defer fee of $20 applies to individual and relay registrations.  

• Defers may be processed up until 11:59 PM the night before the race.

PROCESS A DEFER

To defer your race entry, log into your RunSignup account, navigating to Profile >> Upcoming Events >> Manage Registration >> Defer Registration. For detailed instructions, click the buttons below and follow steps to complete your deferral.

WHY IS THERE A FEE TO DEFER MY ENTRY TO NEXT YEAR'S EVENT?

Registration money is spent on items associated with the current year’s race such as shirts, finisher medals, police fees and more. Often this money is spent months before race day. The defer fee covers these expenses for your next year's entry.  

HOW TO CLAIM AND USE A DEFER ENTRY

If you have already deferred your registration and are ready to claim your deferral, this can be done through your RunSignup profile. To claim a deferral, go to your RunSignup profile and access the Deferrals tab.

Under the Deferrals tab, there will be a list of your deferred races. When registration is open for the following year's event, the Complete Deferral link will allow you to transfer this deferred registration into the new year's event. 

After clicking Complete Deferral, you will be taken to the race website with information on the deferred registration. Click Start Transfer to complete your deferral and transfer into the current year's race.

Registrants must claim the same race as the year before. To transfer to a different event, first claim your defer. Then follow steps to complete a event transfer.
