Description

On April 25, 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake caused widespread casualties and destruction in Nepal, initiating Joint Task Force 505.
 
During a humanitarian aid mission as part of Operation Sahayogi Haat, on May 12, 2015, six Marines, along with two Nepalese Army Liaison soldiers and five injured Nepalese civilians, lost their lives in an aircraft accident.
 
The lives lost included:
- Capt Dustin R. Lukasiewicz
- Capt Christopher L. Norgen
- Sgt Ward M. Johnson IV
- Sgt Eric M. Seaman
- Cpl Sara A. Medina
- LCpl Jacob A. Hug
- Tapendra Rawal
- Bananta Titara

Every year Marine Corps Installations Pacific hosts an annual memorial run to honor the fallen, including its own two marines, LCpl Hug and Cpl Medina who were assigned to MCIPAC Combat Camera at the time of the operation.
