In 1967, Katherine Switzer laced up her shoes and entered the Boston Marathon as "K. Switzer". After fending off the Race Director who chased her down the streets of Boston to try to physically remove her from the race because he did not believe women were capable of completing a marathon, Katherine conquered the Boston Marathon in 4:20 wearing now-historic bib number 261.
