Sturgeon Spirits Virtual 5K in support of SCARS Animal Rescue

SCHS is hosting a virtual 5K run & 5K walk from May 18th to May 20th for all students, staff and community members wishing to beat the COVID blues with some fun physical activity.  Students in various PE classes, Sports Performance 10 & 20 and many other classes will be challenging themselves to claim the 1st ever title as Sturgeons fastest 5K. 

COVID - 19 has impacted our communities in many ways and Sturgeon Composite would like to do our part to help.  SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue) is a non-profit charitable organization that is dedicated to reducing the number of homeless and abandoned animals in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. It is our hope that we can help minimize some of the impact on this organization by working to raise $1000.  SCARS is located in Sturgeon County, and has a special connection to some of our students and their families. Every dollar that you give will help us ensure that this organization can continue to keep its doors open to animals in need. Our donations will  provide the animals with nutritious food, shelter and the life-saving medical care needed to help them get to their forever homes.  All donations will be collected at Sturgeon Composite High School. At this time no online donations can be made. 

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest time in the following categories: male, female, staff member, community participant and lastly one for most funds raised.
