For 2020, Southminster Scamper has decided to go virtual! This year we will offer two different race options with a week to complete the miles! Sign up for the Virtual 5K or sign up for the Virtual 10K and you can race from ANYWHERE! If a 5K or 10K isn't for you, break it up into multiple days to complete the race!  Walk, run, skip, or hop - whatever gets the job done-  your way thru the miles from your neighborhood, the beach, hiking trails, your treadmill, anywhere of your choosing! Warm up before you set out, warm-up with a video by Heather Benoit from Healthyish with Heather that will be emailed to all racers and after you complete your virtual race, log in your results. The male, female, and youth with the top times in both the 5K and 10K races will be awarded prizes. Submit your results by emailing your name and time to southministerscamper@gmail.com or uploading them to the Southminster Scamper Race Event on Runsignup. This year the proceeds from the Southminster Scamper will go to support Southminster Day School's Russ Harlan Scholarship Fund and Greater Birmingham Ministries. Southminster Day School, a private school, was established in 1967. SDS's purpose is to give children of the community the finest background in their early formative years in a Christian atmosphere. Half of the proceeds raised will fund the Russ Harlan Scholarship Program. Greater Birmingham Ministries celebrated 50 years in 2019. GBM's guiding motto is serving people, building community, and pursing justice. Over the years GBM has help establish many organizations such as Alabama Arise, The Crisis Center, Firehouse Shelter and many more.  Half of the proceeds raised will assist GBM in continuing their work for the people, for the community, and for justice!
