HealthPlus Fitness Center is organizing a 1 Mile Celebration Walk called "Fit to Fight" to raise money for the Oncology Wellness Program on May 11, 2019 from 8:00AM - 12:00PM. In addition to the Celebration Walk, we will have a Silent Auction, Open House of HealthPlus, Free Skin Cancer Screenings, Free Group Fitness Classes, representatives from The Cancer Center and EAMC Nutrition services, Free Chair Massages, and many other fun activities.  All profits made from the Fit to Fight fundraiser help support this wonderful program by the staff & training costs of HealthPlus Fitness Center. Those interested in donating are welcome to on this page and during the event.

The Robert & Marjorie Goodson Oncology Wellness Program is a collaboration of services provided by East Alabama Medical Center and is open to current Cancer Center patients before, during, and after treatment. The program provides a complimentary 12-week membership to HealthPlus where the patient receives an orientation by a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist, an individual exercise plan based on their individual needs and goals and orientation to the facility. The Robert & Marjorie Goodson Oncology Wellness Program also includes massage therapy, nutritional counseling, and stress management. This helps bridge the gap between their treatment and returning to a pre-treatment lifestyle. Those who complete the program have found it to be effective in increasing their perceived energy level, improve their quality of life, and help them grow through the challenges associated with cancer treatments.

The Fit to Fight 1 Mile Celebration Walk will start at 9:00 AM and go around our beautiful pond / outdoor track. Registration will be held at HealthPlus Fitness Center, and there will be Pre-registration on May 11th from 8:00-9:00 AM. You may also register on this website. If you register by May 3rd, you will be guaranteed to receive a Fit to Fight T-shirt. We will also have T-shirts on sale at the event and available for those participants registering the day of the event. Please join us for a fun filled day and support this wonderful program! Anyone can bid on our Silent Auction Items that are found on Facebook. Please look at our photo album with all of our items up for silent auction on Facebook. If you find an item you like, just add a comment on the picture and we will update our bid sheets throughout the auction. We will allow bidding the day of the event from 8:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Silent Auction Rules

  • Each Item must Start with Minimum Bid

  • Bid Increments are the Mandatory Minimum increments one can place as the next bid

  • The Silent Auction ends at 11:45 AM on Facebook, and 12:00 PM at the Fit to Fight Event!

  • The winner will be contacted at the end of the Fit to Fight Event

  • Winners must pick up their prize by 2:00pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019 (unless otherwise communicated with the Event Coordinator)


Silent Auction Legalities
  • By bidding in Fit to Fight’s silent auction, each bidder agrees to these auction rules.
  • All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted. All items are “as is.” Fit to Fight has attempted to describe and catalog items correctly, but neither warrants nor represents and in no event shall be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement made in this catalog, or made orally at the auction or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability.
  • The auction item value listed is an estimate of fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser to clarify amount of deduction.
  • Restaurant certificates do not include alcohol, tax, or gratuities unless specified.
  • Payment for items purchased must be made in full on the night of the auction to the cashier. Your Organization accepts cash, MasterCard, Visa, or a check made payable to Your Organization. Please allow 30 minutes after the silent auction bidding has closed before reporting to the cashier.
  • Following payments, you may pick up your purchases in the checkout area. You must show your paid receipt for items to be picked up.
  • The purchaser must pick up all items the day of the auction, unless special arrangements are made. Any item left unclaimed, without prior arrangements, will be sold and proceeds will go to Goodson Oncology Wellness Program.
  • Unless otherwise specified, all auction gift certificates must be used within one year of the date of the auction.
  • Each person bidding assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising indirectly from HealthPlus, their elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer(s), the auction company and its agents and employees, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction.
