Description
Due to multiple factors, the 2021 race is being cancelled. Those who have already registered will be receiving a refund. We would like to thank Comfort Care of Alabama and Jack's for their willingness to sponsor this year's race.
The Corie Wingo Memorial Hayden Day 5k is held annually on the first Saturday in October, the day of our annual fall festival, Hayden Day. The race will begin and end in front of the Hayden High School gym. The course will lead you beside Hayden Elementary School, Hayden Primary School, and take a loop around the outside of beautiful Robert W. Reid Stadium before taking you back to the high school. Following the 5k race there will be a 1 mile fun run and an awards ceremony for the 5k race. After the race festivities are over, you are encouraged to visit the Hayden Day festivities. Hayden Day will begin at 9:00 that morning, and will be held in front of Hayden Middle School.
The annual race memorializes Corie Wingo. Corie was a 13 year old student at Hayden Middle School when she tragically passed away following a severe asthma attack at a Hayden football game on October 25, 2015. This race will raise money to benefit Camp WheezeAway, a summer camp for children ages 8-12 who suffer from asthma.
To be guaranteed a t-shirt, registration must be completed by September 17, 2021.
